FAQ
-
Who needs postpartum physical therapy? All moms can benefit from an immediate postpartum PT session! We especially recommend this session to moms of multiples, those >35 year old, with >4 children, moms with incontinence (leaking urine or feces) or pain during pregnancy, and those with complicated deliveries including >2 hours pushing, the use of vacuum/forceps or shoulder dystocia. These groups have a higher risk of long term pelvic floor dysfunction. However, ALL moms have experienced a significant musculoskeletal event and can benefit from PT to optimize recovery.

How soon can make an appointment postpartum? As soon as you are discharged and get home! Since the schedule tends to fill up in advance, we recommend scheduling your initial visit 1-2 weeks from your due date to save a spot. We save openings for new moms!

Did I wait too long? My baby is already 1 week old? 1 month old? 1 year? No! We understand that the postpartum time is very busy. When you're ready to see us, we're ready to see you. An earlier visit is optimal for your postpartum recovery, but we can help you at any stage. You're postpartum forever!

Do you take my insurance? We are considered "out of network" with insurance companies. This allows us to spend more time dedicated to your sessions. We can also offer services outside the normal scope of physical therapy (including birth education) while charging you one flat fee. Many times, our fee is competitive with the out-of-pocket cost per visit with a high deductible health plan. Although not all services will be covered (this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis), we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

Why telehealth? Why telehealth? Have you been considering speaking to someone about your pain, incontinence, or other pelvic floor concerns for some time, but are afraid to take the plunge? A telehealth visit (via phone or video chat) can be a great way to get started. Hannah will take a detailed history and help you determine the appropriate next steps- including starting treatment immediately! Telehealth visits are ideal for your postpartum care, if you need help but aren’t ready to open your home.
-
What is "wellness"?"Wellness visits are designed to provide you with information about having a healthy pregnancy, preparing for childbirth, urinary leakage, pain with sex, prolapse, diastasis recti, and more! These visits are specifically for our clients located outside of the State of Georgia. We will answer your questions and help guide you. You will receive care from Hannah Poe PT, DPT, but wellness visits are NOT physical therapy. We will refer you to a local physical therapist as needed.

How can I pay for my appointment? We will send you an invoice and you can pay via credit card, FSA or HSA. All virtual physical therapy visits are $150 for 1 hour and wellness visits are $100 for 45 minutes. Home visits have a $75 travel fee.
